I have become increasingly aware of litter in and around our neighborhood.

Yesterday, Chris and I were walking down Ivy Circle toward the pool. The trash in the pond on our left was so disheartening. I couldn’t ignore it. Chris and I picked it up, as well as some that had been discarded in the “planter” or clump of trees on the same side of the pond.

The attached pictures are the fruits of our labor. I separated the recycling from the rest, but before I did so, I took these pictures.

I guess I just want people to know that the expression “not in my backyard” does not apply to discarding our junk. It is quite possible that a lot of the junk found in the pond came from other ponds. It just shows that the earth is our backyard, and we have to take care of it.
